After many years of loyal and competent service, Jeremy Fowler has accepted a position in Northern Illinois as harbormaster at a developing marina. Alton Marina staff wishes Jeremy and his family the best. On Saturday, April 6th, I assumed the harbormaster’s duties at Alton Marina. I am thrilled to have the job and look forward to serving you as part of the Parrot Pointe Marine professional management team.
I am a life-long Alton resident. I attended Alton public schools and am a graduate of both Lewis and Clark Community College and SIUE. This is my 38th year serving boaters on the Alton Pool. I began my career on the river in 1975 at Harbor Point Boat and Dock Co. as a mechanic and painter. In 1978, I joined the repair shop staff at the Yacht Club of St. Louis, and in 1981, I assumed the position of service manager. I operated the service shop on a consignment basis for 25 years leaving at the end of 2006. Since then, I’ve worked part-time in the Yacht Club of St. Louis office and continued boat repair on an independent basis.
I have met some of the finest people I could have met anywhere right here on the Alton Pool and look forward to meeting each of you as the season progresses. I had the pleasure of already meeting some of you at the Ice Breaker, and I thank you very much for your warm welcome.
Our Spring Projects Include the Following:
• We are adding five new tables and chairs for the pool area to increase outside seating capacity. • New paint for the pool and pool deck. • “Phase 3” of the marina Wi-Fi network will soon be completed which should assure good quality and reliable internet receptivity. • We are replacing the existing A/C system in the West Bath House with more efficient, higher capacity unit which should relieve the stuffy conditions in that building.
These projects are currently slated for completion by the end of May.
I plan on adding some items in the store boat supplies section in the store. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Water to the docks is on and shower houses are fully operational.
Your business is important to us and your questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcome. Do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of service to you. Thank You! Greg Brown, Harbormaster
